No heat curls

As a new mum I don’t have the time or desire to spend hours getting all cute for the day. I get covered in baby puke most days so what’s the point.

That doesn’t mean I wouldn’t love to look awesome without the effort.

My little sister emily and I have been searching for easy hair solutions. Last night we attempted overnight curls. Best part is if you are trying to grow your hair like me, it uses no heat so its not damaging.

Shine serum, soft curlers, and a wide tooth comb. Oh plus washed hair, ours was damp, but I’ve seen YouTube videos where they use dry hair.

Wrap you damp hair around the curler and bend into place. We found the best method was to twist the hair before wrapping.

I had ten sections and em had eight and we both have a lot of hair, so these deceivingly small rollers can handle big chunks of hair.

Also I covered mine with a scarf to sleep, the couple of videos I watched didn’t suggest this, but it kept them out of my face while I was hanging out with my fam last night

I am pretty happy with the finished product! It took maybe ten minutes to roll and 1 minute to unroll in the morning. Next time I wouldn’t roll them so far up my hair.

I will for sure be trying this a couple times !

Last night was Dallas’s last night in Seattle! He had to get back to work. Being grown up and having responsibilities sucks. Blah work. Lucky i get to sneak a couple more days with my family.

Mum got tickets to see elf, the musical. Don’t gonna lie I was pretty jazzed to see it. The movie, total classic. The musical is cute, but not at all like the movie. Buddy the elf, was way into his character.

I snuggled with this little grizzly bear this morning after I took dal to the airport. At least I had one of my boys is still with me. I hate when my little family is apart! Even if its just a couple of days.

I’m not a huge fan of people bragging about their Christmas presents, but this is just too beautiful. I got it sized today, and can’t stop looking at it. Dal did good 🙂 love it

home

People ask if I’m going home for Christmas. I respond with I’m going to be with my family.

20121219-215011.jpg

I haven’t lived all over the world. Just three places, but the moves I guess have changed me more than I imagined.

My passport says I’m Australian, but when I’m there my peers identify me as American. I don’t really belong either place. Being without a home is rather confusing.

My little family is Seattle bound for Christmas to be with my siblings and parents. I am really looking forward to spending some time with them. It’s been awhile since we were all together.

Taj is a trooper. He’s been on quite a number of planes in his short existence. The hardest part of traveling today, was being peed all over.

20121219-215347.jpg I had clean clothes for him, just not me. So now I am sitting on the plane in a pee covered blouse. Yay, perks of being a mama!

Dallas and I are officially enrolled in school and are furthering our education. He is going to work full time and be a full time student, I am really proud of his goals he has set for himself. Somedays being a young couple with a young baby seems impossible.

Lets face it we are kids raising kids. At the moment, we are making visible changes to better our future. Making progress makes me happy.

Together we are figuring this out. Next step, figuring out hunting time limits 😉

terrible teeth

These moments of silent snuggling have been what reminds me it is ok. Taj is teething and has been for what feels like forever. He is in pain. His cries are sad and hurt me. When there is so little I can do it makes me so frustrated.

I know it’s not his fault, but all those tears are so hard to handle. Specially when we are out in public and I want to pretend to be a normal 21 year old.

Then he falls asleep in my arms, and I hold him tight. He is moving, not crawling but he can inch across the room. I’m not ready for him to be big yet.

It’s beginning to look a lot like christmas

Taj and I spent the day yesterday with this lovely lady and her sister. It was nice just to hang out and relax with some good friends!

We had the most delicious lunch. Black sheep in Provo. It is a must try place.

Pear cactus lemonade. Most delicious prettiest drink I’ve ever had! I can not wait to go back. It may be my new favorite.

All my Christmas presents are wrapped and under the tree. Yay!

Today has been filled with Christmas treats.

Reindeer cupcakes, for our family dinner with Dallas’s family.

And peppermint bark because it is one of my favorite Christmas treat.

The weekend isn’t even over, and its already been super successful 🙂

I am not a super creative person, and I’m trying to make our house a home. I’ve finally finished the tv room!!

Today’s project took maybe 20 minutes and cost ZERO dollars.

For some reason I always have a stack of paint chips handy. I’ve found lots of using for them in my recent crafting expeditions.

I traced the base of a cup on every other paint chip so I was cutting two at a time.

After I had my stack of circles, I put tape on the back and stuck them on the wall. They are perfectly straight or arranged in any pattern but they are fun and cute. And don’t have anything to do with hunting 🙂

Christmas on a budget

20121212-223307.jpg

Christmas time is here and it is so hard not to spend copious amounts of money on the people we love. So far I’m doing good. Finding cute things for good deals.

I now have two families, a husband, and a baby who all need presents!

To save money I am wrapping everything in brown paper. A dollar for 15ft. Yea the dollar store is my new favorite.

20121212-231223.jpg

And I have paint and glitter from my other projects. So no cost there.

Those cute little name tags are cut out of manila folders, and painted with q-tips and water.

20121212-231312.jpg

I want Christmas to be special, and look awesome. And not be a cheap grinch, but I also really want to move into our own place!

Maybe I could just win the lotto and never have to worry about money! That’d be nice

Presents under the tree. Finally.
